Luke Campbell
Luke dreamed of being an Olympic gold medal winner and this came true in London 2012. From his early days of boxing at aged 13 (which meant hard work and intense training completely filling his time) this was truly a momentous win! Boxing has been in his family tree for three generations with his grandfather having been an Irish boxing champion.
Luke was the most successful amateur boxer in British history, which led on to him entering the world of professional boxing and becoming one of the best lightweights in the world.
His Olympic gold dream is immortalised for ever in his home town of Hull with a golden letter box. Campbell is an avid supporter of his home town soccer team Hull City.
Luke was invited to be on programmes like ‘Question of sport’ which he really enjoyed being part of, alongside guesting as a Boxing commentator on the UK’s ITV Network and Sky Sports.
The Entertainment world of television beckoned him and he learnt to skate on the ITV flagship show ‘Dancing On Ice’, he attained second place on this prime time weekly broadcast show.
He has featured in many magazines for top designers including a Peter Lindbergh shoot for British Vogue, also a Bruce Webber piece, and many other noted photographers with articles in, GQ, Love, and ID, who have also had super editorials on Luke.
A Proud ambassador of @Connexin and as Luke says “a game changer” he has a huge passion for mental health wellness which is why he started WEL-made, which takes care of peoples wellness health and well-being mental state. Luke is currently to be seen, after dinner guest speaking on this subject, talking also on his illustrious Boxing career and of course the Olympic Games.
Now with investing in Gyms in and around his home of Hull and looking at other opportunities that are coming forth, alongside of course, being an avid supporter of his soccer team Hull City. Luke is truly enjoying spending more time with his wife Lynsey and their young family and looks forward to a bright and exciting future. He says “I’ve lived my dreams and accomplished more than I ever imagined I would, in the same way that my dad was able to witness my greatest achievements, I want to be able to do that for my children and make sure I am always there to see their biggest triumphs.”
